About Lorna Blue
Who is Lorna Blue?
Lorna Blue Studio consists of myself, my husband (when needed as stockroom manager or tea boy) and a lovely lady who comes in to give me a hand when needed.
Like a lot of people I've been interested and involved in all types of craft from a young age but the last 8 years has seen me mainly focused on papercraft. One of the reasons I started scrapbooking was that I like the idea of adding stories to the photo's and if you can do it creatively so much the better. Most families have someone who is the one behind the camera and the keeper of the old photo's - that's me. I'm also the one who will spend ages picking out just the right card for a birthday then match it up with the wrapping paper and ribbon.
So when I started scrapbooking it made perfect sense to start using my leftovers to make cards. After all, I had beautiful co-ordinating paper and embellishments. But like a lot of craft it out grows the idea of using up the odd's and end's and takes on a life of it's own. That's when I found myself shopping for stamps.
Now a friend has introduced me to the world of ATC's (artist trading cards) and Art Journaling which has given me another avenue to explore.
Why is Lorna blue internet based?
Having set up Lorna Blue Studio as an on-line store has given me the opportunity to work for myself in a flexible way with the added bonus of being part of an industry that I've always wanted to work in.
From talking to others at workshops and my own experience when searching for products or gifts I came to realise that a lot of people are buying over the internet. There were many reasons given for this, these are just a few.
1. I have no craft shop in my town.
2. Convenience, I don't have to take my children or partner into a store.
3. I can shop at any time of the night or day.
4. They have a different range of products from our store in town.
5. I live out of town and when I do go in I have very little time to browse.
Of course the prime concern of people when ordering over the internet is the security so that's why I chose to go with the Suncorp payment gateway system.
where did the name come from?
Lorna was my mother's name and her favourite colour was blue. So when I decided to register as a business I thought of a number of different names but the one that stuck and felt right was Lorna Blue Studio.
Do you teach classes?
Not on a regular basis but I'm more than happy to put together a class or workshop for a goup of people. I like to travel so it doesn't have to be local. Contact me to discuss possibilities.
Do you do parties or demonstrations?
Yes, just contact me to discuss it.
Where can I find you besides here?
If you're local or passing through and would like to pick up something then just give me a call to make sure I'm home and I'm happy for you to drop in.
I'm also in the hall at the Bundaberg PCYC markets on the second Sunday of each month from 8am - 12pm.
Please let me know if there's anyway I can improve the store.
Best Wishes
Helen
